Scientifica sponsors Young Business Minds 2015
This year's triumphant business plan was called "Character Chaos" and combined a children's hairdresser, play area, and café.
Scientifica's Business Services Director, Adrian Corbin, presented the Young Business Minds prize to a team from Ringmer Community College on 2 July. Adrian said: "Scientifica believes in supporting education at all levels and is particularly happy to sponsor such a worthwhile competition for students at local colleges. It is always encouraging to see the quality of both the business ideas and the presentations, and to know that someday some of these students will go on to start their own businesses."
The competition, set up by The Marketing Eye, is for year twelve students who are given two weeks to produce a plan for a business which they then have to present to a panel of judges in a "Dragon's Den" style format. Finalists included teams from Uckfield Community Technology College, Uplands Community College, Heathfield Community College, Ringmer Community College and Tonbridge School.
In their report, the teams must demonstrate why they have chosen their business idea and how they would make it successful.
Scientifica is proud to have been sponsors of this competition since its inception in 2010.
